8 week (16hr) Complete Introduction to Pottery

This course covers all the foundation skills of pottery: wheel-throwing, trimming, slab building, coiling, handles, slip decoration, painting glazes, and dipping glazes.

 

The course includes: 

  • All materials and firing (to stoneware temperature with food-safe glazes) and you will produce: four thrown pots and two large hand-built pots

  • Membership for the duration, so you can attend access sessions for just £4 per hour

Afterwards ongoing membership is open to anyone who has completed a course

Course Structure

Weeks 1-4: time split between wheel throwing and a slab built jug, with glazing

Weeks 5 & 6: wheel trimming and a coil project

Week 7: Slip Decoration

Weeks 8: dip glazing and painting glazes

It is usually possible to accommodate people occasionally moving between days/times, or we can get you up to speed during an access session if you need to miss a week.

Payment of £300 is taken in 3 parts by direct debit

Course prices include studio membership for the duration of the course, so you can access the studio for just £4 per hour outside class
